There is now a practice that promotes the protection of wild animals, plants and their habitats called wildlife conservation or preservation. The objective of this cause is to ensure that our nature will be around for future generations to enjoy, and also to recognize the importance of wildlife to humanity and other species.
Factors like habitat loss, climate change, poaching, and pollution are threatening and endangering species all around the globe. It is a tragic event to lose a single species and yet statistics have it that we lose around 10,000 species to extinction every year. It is a fact that while we know about the well-known endangered animals in the US such as the Alaska grey wolf, American bison and the Florida manatee, there are other large numbers of undiscovered species that are becoming extinct without us being aware of. We should realize that the extinctions of species will lead to an imbalanced ecosystem, and can impact our food system, economy and eliminate breakthroughs in our scientific and medical studies.
There is an interconnectedness and interdependence among all species in an ecosystem, and if one is eliminated, it can have a drastic and sudden effects on the remaining species. According to scientists, there are five mass extinctions that are known and that there is a sixth mass extinction that is created by humans. This sixth mass extinction comes in the form of legal and illegal trade in species that are at risk of being endangered, expanding cities that destroy natural habitats of animals, and human-driven change in climate. It is sad to know that many animals cannot adapt to these very fast changes and human activities.
Finding Ways To Keep Up With Resources
The continuing efforts and trends to protect our wildlife have shown accomplishments with some of the endangered species that are off the list like the North American grey wolf and a specific gorilla species in Africa.
Study: My Understanding of Businesses
Nowadays, mankind’s travels is one of the biggest challenges that we face because of it is the vehicle of transport of foreign species from their natural habitat to a place where they should not be.
We have so much wonders in our world of wildlife species and most of us think that there a lot of them out there, but the truth is that some of these wildlife are dwindling, and we do not do something about it, they could go into extinction. Thankfully, preservation programs are established more and more to ensure protection of these animals, and through proper public awareness, the management of these natural creatures is being done. It is comforting to know that there is a continuing trend that will show people on how to study and address the challenges facing our wildlife.
